Susan Villecroze

Information Architect

Susan Villecroze is a Human-Computer Interaction Specialist, who has been working full time as an Information Architect for ImageX Media since September 2007. Prior to working for ImageX Media, Susan spent a few years building a web design and development and software engineering company, hexaZen, with her husband. The company is still active today, although it is starting to take on a different direction in offering HCI consulting services due to Susan’s new specialization.

Susan received her BSc from the University of Victoria with a combined major in Physics and Astronomy and a minor in Computer Science. She graduated with her MSc in Computer Science in the area of Human-Computer Interaction from Simon Fraser University in 2007. During her graduate career, she acquired knowledge in areas of ubiquitous computing, interaction techniques, social navigation, mixed-initiative interaction, and usability.

What do you do at ImageX?:
I’m the Information Architect, Web Usability Specialist, and Project Manager. I also perform quality assurance, basic keyword research and search engine optimization.

What attracted you to work for ImageX?:
Although they were a small company, they saw the value in hiring specialist like Information Architects and Web Usability Specialists. I was also impressed with their online portfolio, the fact they were very organized, and liked that they specialized in the Drupal content management system.

What do you like about Drupal?:
Fairly easy to use compared to other CMSs, it’s powerful, there are good SEO and social networking features

I received my A license in skydiving about 8 years ago.

What do you like about ImageX?
Being able to work from home 2 days a week and the fact that everyone there uses and love Mac products :) Also, it’s great to learn about all the different interesting industries and companies our client’s work for.

Favourite workday lunch:
Spinach fettuccine with duck and porcini sauce

Tech skill you’re most proud of:
Being able to figure things out pretty easily with the help of Google.
