Daniel Washbrook
Drupal Developer/Project Manager
Daniel Washbrook is a freelance web developer and project manager. His love for all things technical started in his pre-teen years when he would disassemble HP printers and computers from his father’s work (not always with permission). After running a computer repair business in high school, he started an independent record label and music magazine to supplement his need to try new things. After graduating from high school, he moved to Rouen, France and attended Ecole Supérieure de Commerce studying European Marketing in exchange for a student visa.
Upon returning, Daniel began delivering web development and project management services to a variety of clients around the world. He has studied for a Bachelor of Commerce and a Project Management Certification through the PMI. Drupal is an incredibly good match for the work Daniel does because it’s flexible, powerful and easy on the client.
Quick Facts
Things I like to do on the side:
I spend a lot of time in the mountains near where I live, biking, rock climbing, hiking, and kayaking. But I’m a geek at heart so I play with robots, rewire my car, add a thumb print reader to my front door, and I love reading about physics and math. I also spend a lot of my time on non-profit committees helping with technology and business strategy.
Books that matter to me:
I just read Into the Wild after watching the movie and I’m almost done reading Blindness, premiering in Cannes on May 14th. A very important book to me is The Dancing Wu Li Masters because it finally explained quantum probability in a way I could understand.
Travel:
I hiked up Mount Kenya in the fall of 2007 and it was the most amazing experience of my life. I’ll be heading out on the West Coast Trail this summer (along with a lot of backpacking in the weekends prior that trip). And this fall I was planning a trip to Tibet but that’s on ice due to political issues so the Himalayans might be the backup plan.
My favorite part about working with ImageX:
It feels like I’m working with a bunch of Ninjas. These guys are experts at Drupal development and it’s amazing to get to work amidst their high standards and expectations.
